Sock Making Series # 2

After a long time (maybe a year) I pounced on sock knitting. There were two pairs I had to finish.

I wanted to try something new, what I've never done before. So I made a pair of knee-highs and two-at-a-time socks.

The first ones were done according to Spring socks pattern. I utilized scrap yarns from my old sweaters and made striped knee-highs made from top-down, with heel flap.

Somewhere in the ravelry database I discovered patterns for socks that were made two-at-a-time using a long circular needle. It caught my attention immediately. I think it's great to make both socks together. You don't need to count rounds, you can just try them and they are both the same :-)

I chose toe-up socks by Liat Gat. She has fantastic, easily understandable videos on youtube that can help you with the technique. I had just a little problem. My circular needle was not long enough, so the knitting was little bit complicated. But I solved it by using 2 circular needles.

Cast on for two-at-a-time

They will be great for sleeping :-)

New Look

It's time for some changes in my life and I think my blog deserves a little change in look too :-)

After that I will start posting again and working on many projects I've been thinking of for long time. I will have more time and I'm already looking forward for it...

A New Fascination

A couple of weeks ago I finished my birthday gift for my Granny. She was absolutely excited when she saw a shawl I gave my mom as a Christmas gift that I had to promise to make one for her as well...

I was looking for a lacy, but not too difficult pattern and chose Dew Drops Shawl. And I think she will like it :-)

Here are some photos from my Granny's birthday party, my gift scored :-)

When I finished Dew Drops Shawl, I was so fascinated that I had to start working on another shawl... I would never believe it's possible to be dependent on shawl knitting, but never say never...
And there is my Percy Shawl.

I've also finished my Dancing Cranes Shawl I was working on from January!!!

These days are perfect for finishing old projects... And starting new ones as well :-)

That's a curse or maybe rather advantage of Ravelry database - I always find what I want (and even much more than I actually need)...

What a weird spring

This spring is simply ridiculous. A month ago the weather was just perfect, sun was shining, but now... just cloudy sky and temperatures... really not breathtaking.

I'm really unlucky last couple of months. In January there was very frost weather. So I started to work on a  beret and cowl that would warm me up on way to work. I've chosen quite simple patterns - Duchess Starfish Hat and Garter Stitch Eternity Scarf, both from Ravelry.

But before I finished them, it was not freezing any more...

Well, at least I'm ready for next winter :-D

Then I was excited the spring had come, I started working on a crochet summer handbag - Flower Burst Bag, and the daily temperatures fell almost to zero again... the bag is done already, but lining is missing and I'm not in right mood to finish it. Maybe later.

On the other hand, it's a good time to work on a gift for my Granny. After she saw the Holden shawl I made for my mom as a Christmas gift:

and the last shawl I made (finally one for myself) - Oaklet Shawl:

she wanted to have her own as well. I promised to make one for her, but haven't told exactly when... so it will be a little surprise :-)

I chose Dew Drops Shawl and the same yarn as for Holden, just in a little different color. I hope she will like it...

And I hope that when I make it, the weather is much better and I can finally store all winter projects for next year :-)

The year 2011 is over and it's the right time to resume little bit:
24 finished knitting projects
6 finished crochetting projects
7 unfinished knitting projects

hmm, my last resolution doesn't work too well... I should really change myself :-D
Luckily I can't figure out sewing project :-)

And if I should choose the most amazing thing I've created last year, it would be my magenta shrug:

Another gifts

On Friday we went to my boyfriend's mom. It was the first occasion to see her after Christmas and I could give her my gift. I knitted a shawl, just like for my mom. But I chose more simple pattern because she doesn't like lace designs too much - Soft Linen Shawl from Ravelry. And it was a good choice :-)

And I also made Mini xale Silver leaves shawl according to this pattern for my boyfriend's sister. I was little bit busy last week and just forgot to take the photo of it soonerMy boyfriend promised to help me to take photo because he had some days off. Unfortunatelly before I could check these photos, I gave it to his sister as Christmas gift… And now I found out it’s photo of wrong side of shawl… Oops :-(

Well, maybe next time...
